Rest house Kurodake in Kamikawa-cho

Nice place! This place have not many slopes, but this place have powder snow! And I think the place is nice for winter hiking too.

Well run and maintained ropeway station in order for you to access Kurodake Mountain. Make sure you sign in and out as you climb the mountain.

Quick 7 min ride up from the base up to the 5th station. Cost to value ratio was poor at ¥2,400 pp return. Ride was enjoyable enough although we had missed the autumn leaves by a few weeks so most of the mountain was 80% brown so was disappointing compared to my expectations. Not much to see at the 5th station (the view down the valley wasn’t that spectacular and not many viewpoints to see out either) and the chairlift to 7th station was closed for maintenance (tried the walking trail from 5th to 7th station but was hardly a trail as it was very rocky and very muddy).

The view from ropeway during Autumn is unimaginably beautiful.

What can beat going into the clouds like this! The cable car will take you to the higher station where you can reach the summit by another chairlift. Views are absolutely spectacular well worth taking the ride.

Honestly, it wasn't as spectacular and I thought it should be. Perhaps I visited wrongly on the last day of September, and koyo at the summit was not the best. Instead the lower level have better colours.

This is my 2nd time to be here. I love this place, quiet with snow... last time go with tourism group and this time is drive by myself. Japan people are very hard working to maintain this place. Not so many people here and not easy to keep here... the scenery here is good, especially the time when cart moving between 2 stations...at the top of the station, there is some place to go... it’s a good place to be there.
